Chris McKay still wants to do 'Nightwing' movie, but hasn't talked to Gunn yet

Director Chris McKay still wants to make his Nightwing movie, though he hasn't spoken to DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn yet.

In an interview with SFX Magazine, McKay stated that the project has been on the verge of dying — but he hasn't given up hope. "I'm still hoping to do something," McKay said. "Now that Gunn is in charge...I haven't talked to him or the other actors, but I love Nightwing as a character and if I could do a Nightwing If so, that would be really great.” Nightwing’s real name is Dick Grayson, the first-generation Robin, who once assisted Batman and then returned to his city to continue fighting crime as Nightwing.

The DCU has undergone a major shakeup since James Gunn took the reins. Earlier this year, Gunn announced the first phase of the DCU -- "Gods and Monsters," which includes new Batman and Robin movies, as well as a new Superman origin movie.

Chris McKay has directed films such as Tomorrow's Fight and The Lego Movie.
