Feng Xiaogang Talks About "If You Are the One 3": Haven't Made a New Year's Film for Many Years

On December 28th, the highly anticipated New Year film "If You Are the One 3" premiered nationwide at the Beijing National Culture Palace. Director Feng Xiaogang, creative director Liu Zhenyun, and starring Ge You, Shu Qi, Fan Wei, and others all made appearances.

As the director of the first mainland New Year film "Creation of the Gods" (1997), Feng Xiaogang expressed his sentiments, saying, "Haven't made a New Year's film for many years. Looking back, the last New Year film I made ('Personal Tailor') was ten years ago. Absent for so many years, I feel that we really need a comedy to uplift spirits and bring joy to people's hearts this year. New Year is approaching, and here, I want to wish everyone an early Happy New Year!"

The theme of this national premiere was "Old Friends." Looking at the movie itself, the love story of Qin Fen (Ge You) and Liang Xiaoxiao (Shu Qi) on the big screen has continued for fifteen years, experiencing the ups and downs. As the only series film in Feng Xiaogang's directorial works, "If You Are the One" was first released in 2008, followed by a sequel in 2010. Now, "If You Are the One 3" will serve as the grand finale of this trilogy, bringing a perfect conclusion to the series. The film will be released nationwide on December 30th.

"This is a very enjoyable movie, well-edited, well-paced, well-acted, and well-directed," Liu Zhenyun defined "If You Are the One 3" as a "grand gathering for farewell" during his speech. "The 'If You Are the One' series is a romantic film. Love is warm and serious, and it's the least joking matter. However, this series of films precisely puts the seemingly contradictory elements of love and humor together, creating a 'quantum entanglement.' After watching this movie, I want to say that a love that can take a joke is the one that can withstand the test of time, and it is the most solid love."

At the premiere, the speeches of Ge You and Shu Qi were quite brief. It turns out that the two actors, in their roles as actors, expressed sincere gratitude to the audience at the end of the film: "Thank you for your support and company over the years." Ge You humorously admitted that he is getting older, "Can't play those lovey-dovey scenes anymore, let the director find a younger Qin Fen." Shu Qi, on the other hand, revealed a bit of reluctance to say goodbye to her character Xiaoxiao, "Really a bit reluctant to part with her."

Regarding marriage, they both gave the eight-character proverb: "One promise is worth a thousand pieces of gold; if not sincere, do not disturb."
