IGN has confirmed that Paramount Pictures has purchased the rights to remake Alfred Hitchcock's psychological thriller Vertigo.
Robert Downey Jr. is eyeing the role of protagonist John Ferguson, while "Rush Hour" creator Steven Knight will write the script. Husband and wife Downey Jr. and Susan Downey serve as producers.
The suspense thriller "Vertigo" was released in 1958, starring James Stewart and Kim Novak. It tells the story of a police officer who became a private detective after being injured.
