Nolan recently disclosed the practical filming methods used for the nuclear bomb explosion scenes in the movie 'Oppenheimer.'
He employed various explosives, including magnesium flares and a mixture of black powder and gasoline for large-scale explosions, while smaller explosion scenes were achieved using ignited gasoline with small particles.
Nolan stated, 'I found that CG technology fails to capture the audience's emotions. Non-practical effects only make the audience feel safe, but we aim to present ultimate danger. The film should make the viewers feel the threat and fear within the explosion scenes.'
'Oppenheimer' focuses on the enigmatic man portrayed by Cillian Murphy, known as the 'father of the atomic bomb,' Robert Oppenheimer. Audiences will witness how this mysterious man becomes trapped in a paradox: to save the world, he must first destroy it.
The film is based on the biography 'American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer' by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography in 2005.
