According to media reports, a warehouse worker from the French branch of MPO Vinyl Records has been sentenced to 8 months in prison for attempting to illegally sell several copies of Taylor Swift's upcoming reissued album 'Speak Now' before its official release.
The 43-year-old temporary worker escaped from the warehouse and tried to sell 10 unreleased records online but was caught in the act.
He described that he was unpacking crates when a few records fell out of a box. Recognizing the sales potential of Taylor Swift's brand and facing significant debt, he took 10 records home and started selling them for €25 each. After selling the first two, he increased the price to €50. However, he was reported by the French HR manager of MPO, and when the police arrived to arrest him, he attempted to escape from his house's rooftop.
Taylor Swift's 2010 album 'Speak Now' will be reissued on July 7, 2023, with collaborations featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore and Fall Out Boy, according to reports.
