Director of 'Joy of Life 2' Responds to Cast Changes: It's Not Easy to Assemble the Original Cast!

Tencent's drama series 'Joy of Life 2' recently announced changes in the cast, with several new actors joining.
The returning main cast members include Zhang Ruoyun, Li Qin, Chen Daoming, Wu Gang, Guo Qilin, and Tian Yu. However, there are minor changes to certain roles, such as the controversial character Yan Bingyun, which was portrayed by Xiao Zhan in the previous installment but has now been taken over by Wu Xingjian.
Director Sun Hao responded to the cast adjustments in an interview, stating that the original cast has been retained by 99.99%, and it was not easy to assemble this group of people. He also mentioned that with the success of the first season, new roles naturally attracted actors' interest, leading to competition for the same role, which was both painful and joyful.
Regarding the progress of the second season's filming, Sun expressed a desire for a faster pace, as the footage already shot has entered the post-production phase, which requires more time.
It is worth noting that 'Joy of Life' Season 1, launched on Tencent Video in 2019, became a major hit with its mysterious and humorous storyline, earning countless positive reviews. It was acclaimed as one of the most beloved TV dramas of 2019 and one of Tencent's successful productions.
