Wang Baoqiang Promises to Reward Audiences with a Heartfelt New Film

According to Sina Movies, during the final stop of the roadshow for the film 'The Octagonal Cage' in Zibo, Wang Baoqiang expressed his gratitude to the audience.

He acknowledged that six years ago, as a first-time director, he failed to meet the audience's expectations, feeling remorseful: 'Six years ago, I promised the audience that I would deliver a good film. After six years of hard work, I have created a film that I believe is very meaningful, fulfilling my previous commitment... The audience is like our parents who provide us with clothing and food. I hope that future films I make will make the audience proud and honored because of me.'

After speaking, Wang Baoqiang bowed deeply to the audience alongside actors Chen Yongsheng and Zhang Yitong.

'The Octagonal Cage' is Wang Baoqiang's second self-written, directed, and acted film, following 'Journey to the West: Demon Chapter.' Currently, it has a rating of 7.5 on Douban.

The film tells the story of Xiang Tenghui (played by Wang Baoqiang), who dedicates his efforts to nurture children who have been neglected. This provides a glimmer of hope for these children, who have no prospects in life. However, when videos of their past performances, deemed 'cruel and bloody,' are exposed, it triggers the nerves of those who are unaware of the truth. Overnight, public opinion begins to ferment, entangling Xiang Tenghui's life and the children's future in a web woven by people who claim to act out of kindness, making it difficult for them to break free and escape the mire.
