Wicked, one of the most successful musicals in Broadway history, is finally getting a movie version. "Wicked" is based on the 1995 novel "Wicked: The Life of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire. The story is inspired by the classic fairy tale "The Wizard of Oz", and the protagonists are the witches Elphaba and Glinda. The two started out as best friends from the same school but ended up going down different paths, with Glinda going on to become Glinda the Good Witch of the North in The Wizard of Oz and Elphaba the so-called "Wicked Witch of the West".
