In the year 1940, Nanjing was engulfed in a crisis with multiple forces vying for control. Special agent Jin Shenshui (played by Zhang Yi) danced on a razor's edge, maneuvering between the Japanese military, the Wang puppet government, and the military intelligence bureau, like a tightrope walker. Jin Shenshui had multiple identities. He cautiously survived in this war-torn city while searching for his true purpose and the path to his nation's survival. However, when he crossed paths with Lin Yingying (portrayed by Lang Yueting), a woman equally driven by vengeance but seemingly more adept at handling challenges, he began to awaken. Together, they engaged in covert battles with various factions, and Jin Shenshui embarked on his true mission in this tumultuous era.
