Downey responds to Quentin Marvel star remarks: Big IP also needs good actors
2023-03-16
Late last year, Tarantino said that the real stars of Marvel are the characters, not the actors who play them. Shortly after, Robert Downey Jr. responded.
"The views on these things (Marvel, commercial and art films, etc.) can reveal a lot about our inner world. I think we are in a situation where IP is prioritized over principles and personalities. help."
“This is a double-edged sword. The quality of an IP depends on what kind of talents you use to present it. You can have some great IPs, even national treasure-level screenwriters and directors Yes, but if you don't cast the right person for the role, you'll never realize its full potential.”
“We are wasting our time fighting ourselves. This is a time when everything falls apart and I throw rocks at you when I disagree with you. I have responded to people’s gossip before. I Say, 'Let's flip the page, we're in the same neighborhood, there's room for a variety of different movies.'”
" Thank goodness we still have Top Gun: Maverick and Avatar: Way of Water. That's all I'm saying. We need big stuff before we can do Armageddon like this mid-budget movie.”
"I'm not talking about the trickle-down effect of the entertainment industry. I'm just saying that things are forever changing and I'm in another phase of my life. I'm working with Nolan right now ("Orange Benheimer), it was a very transformative experience; bringing "Robert Downey: In His Own Style" to the market; the next thing to do is to do a drama with Park Chan-wook with my wife episode, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Sympathizer. It's changed so much, it's like playing five characters at the same time. So, I say, go through your own change and rejuvenation before we slander each other, and then think Wondering if you'll change your mind. ”
“Reinvent yourself before you feel that other people don’t know what they’re doing, or that there’s something holding you back from your potential. You know, we’re living in a time like Jon Favreau Having said that, we used to try to make waves in the lake, and now we just want to grab people's attention, because everything is washed away quickly in the stream. I think everything is about to change again, but this is where we are era. Accept it all and be grateful to be able to jump in where it all began.”
