Andy Muschietti stated, 'Of course, the idea is... we are seeing things from the Flash's perspective, and everything in terms of light and texture is distorted. We are entering the 'waterworld,' essentially seeing it from Barry's point of view. It's part of the design, and if it looks a bit strange, it's intentional.'
Indeed, the official explanation confirms that it was the filmmakers' intention to ensure a divergence between what the Flash sees and what ordinary people see.
