Netflix's "The Witcher" Director Talks Henry Cavill: He Never Uses Stunt Doubles
2023-08-21
According to gamesradar reports, director Mark Jobst, who directed several episodes of the first season of Netflix's "The Witcher," recently shared his perspective on Henry Cavill's departure from the series. Henry Cavill has decided to step down from his role as Geralt in Netflix's "The Witcher," and the role will be taken over by Liam Hemswoth.
When discussing Cavill's departure, Jobst stated, "Henry has been in it for three seasons, and these conglomerate productions are highly demanding, you know, they're all quite massive."
"Every single one of Henry's stunt shots is done by himself; he doesn't even allow hand doubles. If you're filming a close-up of a hand gripping a sword, it has to be his hand."
Jobst went on to mention some epic scenes that Cavill was involved in, including the unforgettable Battle of Blaviken in the first season. The director mentioned that Cavill often worked tirelessly to ensure that the stunt work looked as perfect as possible.
"For your number one actor, this kind of shooting is very energy-consuming. So, after filming three seasons, I thought, 'Well, he's given his all to this show, and if he feels he's done his best, I believe him.' His focus and desire to do things well are a kind of work talent."
Cavill has not yet provided specific reasons for his departure from the show, but there have been many speculations from the outside. However, his co-star Anya Chalotra has denied claims of discord as the reason for his departure.
