The highly anticipated second season of the HBO's live-action adaptation of "The Last of Us" is on the horizon, bringing the iconic and controversial character Abby into the spotlight. While production of the series has faced setbacks due to a writer's strike, the process of casting Abby seems to have reached a pivotal point.
In a recent interview with "Hollywood Reporter," screenwriter Craig McSin discussed the progress. When asked about the casting of Abby, he chuckled and replied, "Perhaps so. The strike might have slowed us down, but the casting process is well underway."
He elaborated, "Selecting the right Abby is our current top priority. Recalling the audience's shock when the cast for the first season was unveiled, we anticipate similar reactions revolving around Abby's character. Opinions may vary, but thus far, it seems we're on the right track. Even Oscar seems to align with our choice."
Addressing the controversial narrative direction, McSin explained, "We've maintained tight secrecy prior to the series' release, carefully avoiding confirming any details, even tacitly. Those who've seen the first season are aware that at times, we remain faithful to the events in the game, but occasionally, we introduce entirely novel elements."
