Recently, J.K. Rowling responded to netizens who wanted to boycott HBO Max's new "Harry Potter" series with a sarcastic tweet.
Earlier this month, HBO confirmed two major developments: its streaming service will be rebranded as Max following the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery; Served as executive producer.
In a recent tweet, Rowling wrote: "Terrible news I feel obligated to share. The activists I mentioned are trying to boycott my work again, this time with the Harry Potter series. Plan ahead , I've taken precautions and stocked up on champagne."
Some expressed outrage at the idea of a remake, given the popularity and quality of the film adaptations. Others have questioned Rowling's role in the wake of the transgender controversy, which she has denied.
It is reported that this "Harry Potter" series will not continue the legendary story like the movie, nor is it a derivative of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find It", but will retell the story in the book with a new cast.
